Balance The Scales
Hello beautiful Humans,
Welcome, and thank you for being here. This is my very first edition of The Lumina Letter. And while we’re already in the middle of Libra season, there’s no time like now to pause, rebalance, and reconnect.
What inspired me to start writing here is simple: I noticed I was out of balance. My scales had tipped—heavy on the side of doing for others, staying busy, pouring into projects that benefit everyone but me. And in many ways, it’s been good—I’ve been happy, grateful, still finding joy in the day to day. But underneath, I’ve neglected my own creativity, my gifts, my growth. Less meditation, less journaling, more distraction—caught in energy that wasn’t mine.
I felt quieted, even lost, and I avoided it. It was easier to lean on excuses: I don’t know where to start… if only it were easier… if only I had more time. Some of those excuses were valid, tangled in the busyness of each day, some even unconscious. The more I said “yes” to others, the more I sat in frustration, quietly asking: When is it my time?
That questioning slipped into surrender: Well, this is just how it is. These barriers aren’t changing anytime soon. But I knew deep down that wasn’t the truth.
Starting this letter—sharing in this way—is my first step back toward harmony.
And what better season than Libra? Libra, the diplomatic lover, carries an artistic flow—an energy of symmetry, partnership, and movement. It reminds us that balance isn’t perfection, but the space between opposites: self and other, pros and cons, work and rest, masculine and feminine, yes and no. It’s the art of showing up for others while remembering ourselves.
So this is me practicing. This is me saying: my scales were tipped, I wasn’t in balance, I wasn’t in harmony, and this is the beginning of finding my way back. Maybe you’re feeling something similar. Maybe your own scales are leaning too far one way. If so, I hope this space inspires you to pause, to notice, and to give yourself permission to come back into balance too.
Welcome to the season of Libra (Sept 22 – Oct 22)
Let’s begin with the elements. Earth, air, water, fire—each season draws us into one. Libra is air. Air governs thought, communication, connection. It can be quick and ungraspable, like the wind rushing past, or still and spacious, offering clarity. This season invites us to be intentional with our words, our thoughts, and the energy we share.
Libra seeks harmony, most noticeably in our relationships. Am I truly relating, or just being agreeable? Do we feel like a team? You might feel more social, craving conversation, even playful, witty debates. Lean in— with awareness. The dance is learning how far to engage and when to step back.
Collective Energy
On a collective level, Libra heightens awareness of relationships, justice, and fairness. You may feel pulled toward partnership, collaboration, or advocating for balance in your community. There’s also lightness and love here—a desire to be surrounded by what feels beautiful and easy.
Libra reminds us: true harmony doesn’t come from avoiding discomfort. It comes from honesty. When the scales tip too far, the shadow side emerges—stubbornness, indecision, people pleasing, codependency. Our eye for injustice sharpens, asking: Is this fair? Is this just? And often, the world doesn’t answer with a resounding yes. That tension can spark frustration—or call us into courageous truth-telling.
This is a time to ask yourself:
Where in my life do I feel out of balance?
Am I honoring my truth, or sacrificing it for peace?
How can I speak what needs to be said with clarity and compassion?
Living in the Energy
With five planets in Air, Libra season feels both cozy and activating for me. Air is natural—I’m always running ideas, dreaming the next thing. But I also get caught in its quickness: restless, impatient, impulsive, stuck in loops, fleeting thoughts, fleeting feelings. Not sitting in frustration for long can be a blessing, but it also means I sometimes bypass discomfort before I can learn from it. Libra season reminds me to ground more intentionally.
And of course, Libra also brings lightness. It makes me feel sillier, more social. I just started teaching yoga again—a return to community and creative expression that, fittingly, blossomed right in this season.
At the start of Libra season, I wasn’t in balance. I wear many hats, and one in particular asked me to step into diplomacy—leading with fairness and clarity even when I’d rather say, Can someone else just handle this? And the moment I looked up, the astrology aligned—Libra has been pushing me exactly where I need to be stretched: toward partnership, fairness, collaboration. Of course it made sense.
Lets be Practical..
This year, balance hasn’t meant big rituals or hours of journaling. It’s meant small, intentional practices. A pause before words. A breath before reaction. Carving out time for what lights me up. Preparation. Taking time before conversations to ask: What do I need to say? What’s my intention vs. my impact? Sitting in silence long enough to gather my words instead of reacting. Yes, good old uncomfortable long pauses. Reminding myself: if I don’t set a boundary, if I don’t communicate.. I can’t expect someone else to read my mind.
Libra has been guiding me back, grounding me in balance. Remembering this is a social time, a collaborative time. Learning once again that balance isn’t something we arrive at once. It’s something we return to again and again.
It took half the season to truly listen, but here I am.The relationship with myself, with yourself, sets the tone for all the rest. I swear Libra is beaming in the sky as I write that. It’s true though — this is the dance: Where do I exist, where do you exist, and how do we merge without losing sight of ourselves?
A Closing Invitation
My hope is that you, too, find a moment this season to pause, breathe, and listen for where your own scales are leaning.
Until next time, may you move with grace, breathe with intention, and walk in balance.
Let the soul be in harmony with the truth.
